What is Mindwalk?Mindwalk is a new application to perform spatial analysis on buildings and cities over axial and continuity maps. These techniques were developed on the field of space syntax and have been proved to be successful to study the social and cultural roles of space, particularly for the evaluation of the impact of spatial configuration on pedestrian and vehicular movement patterns. Read more about our research > Mindwalk was fully written in Java, a programming language designed to be platform-independent. It imports and exports maps as drawing exchange files (DXF) and simple coordinate files (text files), supporting all standard syntactic measures, a version of the choice measure and new ones associated with the continuity system. See the key features of our software > Most of Mindwalk was written in 2002 under code name “xSpace” (Axial Space). Since then, there was a growing search for our software. In 2004, “xSpace” was adopted as a tool for teaching space syntax in class context at some institutions. Now, Mindwalk, version 1.0, is being distributed worldwide for academic and non-commercial purposes. |
